Who is at risk for incisional hernias?
Conditions that increase strain on the abdominal wall such as obesity, pregnancy, peritoneal dialysis, liver disease, chronic straining/lifting, chronic cough, or chronic difficulties with bowel movements or urination are risk factors for hernia formation.
