Gastric Balloon

We have options:

  • Leading practice for gastric balloon procedures
  • Most affordable gastric balloon procedure in the Northeast
  • The Orbera® and ReShape Lifesciences™ gastric balloons help you feel full faster, reinforcing maintenance of better eating habit behaviors.
  • These procedures are best for people that have between 20-50 lbs to lose.
  • Since the insertion and removal of the balloon is done through a gastroscope, it is not a surgical procedure and therefore requires sedation only and avoids anesthesia.
  • Balloons can stay in for up to six months, but then must be removed.
  • They are designed to be used as part of a comprehensive weight loss program including dietary and lifestyle changes.

How is the gastric balloon different than other weight loss programs?

Our Gastric Balloon Managed Weight Loss Program prides itself not only on its cutting-edge ability, but also on being one of the most reliable and innovative programs in the weight loss industry today. This procedure breaks from tradition “diet programs” and does not require surgery or a strict diet pill regimen. Advanced Surgical & Bariatrics of New Jersey recommends that patients educate themselves on this unique weight loss option and get inspired by the numerous success stories that this program has provided.

How much weight can I expect to lose?

During the first three months of treatment, patients have typically seen the most rapid weight loss. Ideally the weight loss continues throughout the entire process until the gastric balloon is removed.

Why choose Advanced Surgical & Bariatrics of New Jersey for your gastric balloon?

As a ranking Top Surgeon according to the Consumers’ Research Council of America for every year since 2008, Dr. Sadek is at the forefront of all technological advancements in weight loss surgery. It is no surprise then that as a Bariatric Center of Excellence, Advanced Surgical and Bariatrics of New Jersey already has an extensive amount of experience with inserting gastric balloons and helping patients down a healthier life path. The intragastric balloon procedure has been approved by the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) as of August 5th, 2015, and has proven to become an effective weight-loss option.

How does the gastric balloon work?

As the premier weight loss center in New Jersey, Advanced Surgical and Bariatrics of NJ has the most qualified, practiced surgeons in the area to perform your gastric balloon procedure. The intragastric (inside the stomach) balloon is temporarily placed within your stomach for up to six months. The balloons are elastomeric (stretchable polymer), hold about 500 milliliters of saline, and are inserted without surgical incisions. You have up to six months with the balloon before it must be removed. The intragastric balloon provides a six-month kick start to healthy weight loss. Other weight loss programs or bariatric procedures may not have worked for you, but the gastric balloon is an ideal solution if you are looking to lose up to 20-30lbs or more. The balloons help you feel full faster, reinforcing better eating behaviors. Since the insertion and removal of the balloon is done through a gastroscope, it is not a surgical procedure and therefore requires sedation only and no general anesthesia.

Is the Gastric Balloon program at Advanced Surgical and Bariatrics of NJ right for me?

This video of the gastric balloon procedure shows you the exact view our surgeons see, from our own gastroscope. The journey begins by coming in to our weight loss center for a consultation. After the initial visit, you may come in for the procedure, which is detailed in the gastric balloon video above. The gastric balloon is inserted through the gastroscope into the stomach. Once the balloon is inside your stomach, our trained bariatric experts will position the balloon and fill it with saline solution. As you can see clearly in the video, the balloon fills up a significant portion of your stomach. As it expands, it leaves less area for food, and prompts your brain to send “full” signals, helping you eat less. Once the balloon is expanded and in place, we remove the gastroscope and the procedure is complete!
