Meet Dr. Heath Antoine.
As the newest addition to our team, we’re excited to have his knowledge, skills, and wonderful personality on staff. We’d like to help you get to know him a bit better.
Dr. Antoine is a skilled bariatric and general surgeon.
We’re not the only ones who recognize Dr. Antoine’s skills. He has been certified by the American Board of Surgery as a general surgeon and trained at the Cleveland Clinic for laparoscopic and bariatric surgery.
His skills line up perfectly with our services at Advanced Surgical & Bariatrics. He is experienced in performing the Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, the vertical sleeve gastrectomy, and even revisional bariatric surgery.
For most surgeries, he utilizes minimally-invasive techniques to improve success rates, decrease complications, and minimize scarring.
He bolsters our status as the Hernia Center for New Jersey, bringing his knowledge on how best to repair hernias – whether they are hiatal, paraesophageal, or abdominal wall hernias – as well as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
Dr. Antoine has dedicated himself to improving his surgical techniques because he cares about his patients. He is passionate about helping them and believes that the best results are gained from an individualized plan based on specific medical needs.
Where was Dr. Antoine before Advanced Surgical & Bariatrics?
Dr. Antoine hails from southern California, where he spent his undergraduate years at the University of California, Los Angeles. Afterwards, he stayed in LA to study at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where he focused on genetics; specifically, the genetic factors that relate to insulin resistance, polycystic ovary syndrome, and the metabolic syndrome.
His focus on diabetes, heart disease, and obesity-related diseases inspired his desire to help patients directly. That is how he ended up in Detroit, studying general surgery at the Henry Ford Hospital. After mastering general practices, he headed to Cleveland, Ohio for his Advanced Laparoscopic and Bariatric Surgery Fellowship.
Who is Dr. Antoine outside of work?
In his free time, Dr. Antoine is still a proponent of an active, healthy, and fun lifestyle. He remains an avid fan of sports as well as cooking, although he’ll tell you he’s a “perpetual chef-in-training,” he continues trying to create something new and wonderful in the kitchen.
He enjoys spending time with his family, running, cycling, Pilates, and traveling; basically, anything that lets him enjoy the beautiful outdoors.
