Accreditations & Quality
Accredited, Verified, and Independently Reviewed
Choosing a surgeon should not require taking anyone's word for it. Every credential on this page was awarded by a national accrediting body, a certifying board, or a health insurer after a formal review of surgical outcomes, case volume, staffing, and program infrastructure — and every one of them can be independently verified.
Our program is accredited by the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP), a joint program of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. We hold The Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval® for bariatric surgery. And we are designated as a Center of Excellence by all four major national health insurers.
What accreditation actually means
Accreditation is not a listing you can buy. MBSAQIP accreditation follows an on-site peer review measured against national standards for surgical volume, staffing, equipment, clinical pathways, and long-term patient follow-up. Accredited programs report every case to a national outcomes registry, and that data is audited.
The Joint Commission's disease-specific care certification requires demonstrated compliance with national health and safety standards, verified on a recurring survey cycle rather than granted once.
Insurer Centers of Excellence are designated only after the carrier independently reviews complication rates, readmissions, surgical volume, and accreditation status.
For referring physicians
We report outcomes to national registries and share them. If you are considering referring a patient and want to see our complication, readmission, or follow-up data for a specific procedure, contact our office and we will provide it.
For patients — why this affects your cost
Many insurance plans require that bariatric surgery be performed at a designated Center of Excellence in order to be covered, and some plans reduce your out-of-pocket cost when you use one. Because we hold designations from all four major national carriers, most patients can be treated in-network.
Our insurance team will verify exactly what your specific plan covers before you schedule.
